This was my first 'co-washing' product so I was not sure what to expect or look out for. I had just taken out a set of braids and did not want to use my regular shampoo mix so I thought I would give this a go. I'm glad to say I was not disappointed with my experience.

There is a subtle coconut and fruity smell that lingers throughout your wash that I absolutely love. The cowash itself had the consistency of a thick smoothie so it was easy to apply. I separated my hair into four large sections and detangled throughly before applying the creamy mixture to each part. As per usual, I used the product as a shampoo and worked it into my hair and gently massaged my scalp to remove oily build-up. I then let it sit for 5 minutes before I rinsed it out of each section. The Organix Vitamin E conditioner was used as a follow up.
As a conditioner I would not say that it made my type 4 hair any softer than it already was after each use. In fact, there was little to no change in 'softness' after each wash. Some say it does have great moisture benefits but I was not so convinced, each to their own.

Logistics
I live in Australia and natural hair products are pretty much non-existent in this country and if you do find something in Priceline it is GOLD. You usually have to buy 2 or more of a product because curly girls over here also have a hard time finding products for their locks. I ordered this item on Amazon US along with other natural hair creams. It cost me around $20AUD, shipping included. So I was satisfied with that price. Would I order it again?Maybe. Only if I wanted to treat myself though! I live in Australia and I would not consider adding it to my natural hair staple basket. It is hard to find and $20 a month is a bit pricey for a uni student.
Rating
Overall, without logistics in mind, I would rate the As I Am Coconut Cleansing CoWash a 4/5. It is a perfect substitute for a shampoo because not only is it mild and gentle but removes oily buildup really well.
Happy hairdays!
