Protective Diaries // The Kinky Curly Wig

19:58

This winter I decided to put my signature braids hairstyle on hold until spring. For now, I thought I will wear a wig. As much as I want to minimise long-term protective hairstyles I also want to wear styles that will allow me to retain length. A wig is perfect because I have easy access to my strands.
This is my first curly wig from Aliexpress and so far it's been great.

Underneath the wig I flat twist my hair in small rows at the front and put the rest of my hair into braids. Although my leave out is twisted most of the time, my hair blends well with the wig.

Details

The wig is synthetic. I chose synthetic as the curls hold well and less maintenance required for up keep.

Colour: 1

Length: 24 inches
Price: $62 AUD ($44 USD)

The Aliexpress vendor is Aurica wigs. The seller was friendly and (paid) postage took 2 weeks to Australia.

Upon arrival the wig needed shaping and there was a lot of cutting and trimming involved too. To thin the wig out I cut along some wefts in the middle of the wig. This thinned the wig and reduced the unnecessary volume. Afterwards, I shaped and trimmed it according to my face. Depending on response, I may post a later video on how I did this process.

It blends well with type 4 hair.

Happy hair days,
