You are what you eat! Food and nutrition play a vital role in our health and wellbeing. As any natural should know it's also important to have a healthy diet and exercise for healthy hair growth.
However, there are some food groups that we just have to incorporate into our diet for successful hair growth. Here are some essential vitamins that can be found in particular foods.
However, there are some food groups that we just have to incorporate into our diet for successful hair growth. Here are some essential vitamins that can be found in particular foods.
Vitamin E
Avocados and nuts such as almonds and walnuts are rich in essential fatty acids and also contain the active form of vitamin E, alpha-tocopherol. Vitamin E is important in preventing excessive hair shedding and breakage. It has also been shown to play a role in improved circulation to the scalp.Biotin
When you think of biotin, biotin supplements (*cough* *cough* Hairfinity) immediately come to mind. Biotin or Vitamin H as it is also known, is also found naturally in foods that we eat Biotin is a B-vitamin complex and also reduces hair breakage and shedding. Nature already has safe doses of biotin. Healthy servings of eggs, nuts such as almonds, peanuts and oats can contain between 26-88% of our Recommended Daily Intake.Vitamin D
Vitamin D plays a key role in preventing hair loss and promoting hair growth in especially in the "anagen" phase of the hair-growth cycle. The anagen phase is the growth phase of hair follicles. Of course the most natural source of vitamin D is sunlight. A healthy dose of sunshine about 15 minutes a day is enough to fulfill the recommended dietary intake. Although vitamin D concentration in most food is low, salmon, tuna, mushrooms and oranges provide appropriate doses of vitamin D.
Healthy eating is just as important as using good hair products. I hope this post inspires you to incorporate more of these vitamin rich foods in your diet.
Happy hairdays,
Emmanuella xx
